@riggsby24 A Heat pump is a type of air conditioner.

@frasermoo X heat goes in exchanged with Y temp and pumped back into the room, excess X heat is exchanged with the outside air. It does not matter if X is higher or lower than Y. Noob.

@frasermoo As I say, I have a proof. If you know Maxwell'sequations, you should be able to understand it. My e-mail address is in my contact box.

@henrykay01 you didn't. stop it.

@Wond3rballs where is the reverse stage? heat pump means heating AND cooling in today's commercial world. this shows no heating stage.
By: frasermoo. on 04 Sep 10, 06:47:15
@riggsby24 exactly. where is the heating stage? lame.

@riggsby24 If the exhaust is hot air.... you can just turn it around and have the exhaust go into your house how is this not a heat pump? (mind you there will be water in your house too so don't get too technical, I'm just wondering if you understand how the damn thing works)
By: riggsby24. on 27 Aug 10, 18:14:58
@Wond3rballs I was referring to the lack of reversing valve. This picture shows an in-wall A/C unit. The only in-wall heat pump systems that I am aware of are 'ductless heat pumps.' These (along with standard heat pumps) have an outdoor unit and an in furnace or in air-handler coil. Granted the refrigerant is only reversed to cool or heat, but this example DOES appear to only be an A/C unit.

@riggsby24 same thing!

and the heat pump???

I invented a breakthrough energy source which violates the law of energy conservation. I have a PROOF that there are electrodynamic phenomena which violate the law of energy conservation (and also experimental evidence for such phenomena). I am looking for $300 000 for a prototype and $3M for patents. In mass production it will cost about $1200 to make a 6 kW generator, value of the energy produced yearly $5400. H. @riggsby24 an air conditioner is a heatpump. Any heat exchanger is still a heat exchanger, just flip the bitch around and you blow hot air into the room.
By: epistte. on 27 Jun 10, 05:28:37
They forgot to mention the expansion valve that causes hot gas to get very cold when it drops in pressure. Riggsby. a heat pumps works exactly in reverse of an air conditioner, such as a heat pump or a ground source geothermal.
By: bvick777. on 18 Jun 10, 20:56:45
@skittlesmonkey expansion valves cause the refrigerant to flash cool and turn into a liquid. They also use capillary tubes that do the same thing. Basically its just a small orifice for the freon to go through and change it from one state to another..high pressure liquid to low pressure liquid. This is why it is called the liquid line between coils.

I dunno about this.. I'm pretty sure it has something? to do with tiny penguins.

When a substance boils, it consumes energy (the heat of evaporation). When something turns back to a liquid, it gives off heat.

im gomma have to watch this about 500 times before i understand it
By: 1952kid. on 02 Mar 10, 01:25:58
When the temps go below 35 or so degrees these systems dont work, an electric heat strip comes on, and your running on electric heat the whole time untill it warms up outside . NICE BIG ELECTRIC BILLS.
By: skittlesmonkey. on 17 Feb 10, 00:45:53
is there a reason there use an expansion valve instead of something like a little turbine to harness the energy of the moment from high pressure to low, or is it just to make the mechanism simpler?
