Hey I'm starting a videography business and thinking of ways of lowering "charging cost" while trying to be green and I had this idea of Solar Panels to run my charging banks for all the batteries I will be charging.. and I not sure what kind of voltage I need... The inputs is pretty standard for the chargers.. 100 - 240 v AC... how many panels would I need to charge about 6 of these chargers?

@believenman Possible, yes, probable, no. You're going to spend somewhere around $20,000 if you build the panels yourself, and three times that if you buy them from a manufacturer like Sharp or BP. That's just the panel cost... you then have to factor in inverters... and that's only if you plan on using it during the day and on days where there's sun, or you're going to have another $10000 in batteries.

It is a good setup but I have to question why do you need a system that big. Why don't you just down scale your consumption of electricity. You can do this by having a smaller house with less stuff in it and turning electrical items off when they are not being used (like light bulbs on in room that are unoccupied). Me and my wife have a double brick house in Australia and the most we have used in a day is 5.8 kwh. A 2kw solar system and batteries will provide enough to be off grid.

He made short range jaunts in this car with the hydrogen stored in a conventional steel high pressure tank that is commonly used in the welding industry. Hydride tanks came later. it's calculated that the hydrogen storage tank for an average automobile would have to be made from thick walled cast iron to be dense enough to resist the passage of hydrogen under pressure. A tank that contained enough hydrogen to give the same range as a petroleum powered car would weigh more than the car. Hydrogen stored at low pressure is the rough equivalent of filling a zeppelin in quantity and is of limited value. All leakage is high flammable. Don't do this under any circumstances.

Any combustible gas or liquid storage is a risk of course. The main problem with the system is the cost of the solar cells and maintenance. The price of cells are likely to drop as production becomes more efficient, but at the moment fossil fuels are what, a tenth of the cost.

@chilby00 Not a bogus video. Mr. Strizki & Dr. Roger Billings deserve much credit & reward for thier pioneering efforts in Hydrogen Homesteading. I was part of a group who stored H2 in propane tanks, O2 tanks, Acetylene tanks, CNG tanks,etc @ low pressure for months. HIGH pressure storage is best done in composite tanks designed for H2 .

In the summertime here in Phoenix AZ, hot water normally comes out of the COLD water faucet. The hot water from the COLD water faucet is hotter than the "hot" water coming out of the HOT water faucet. So, right at about June 15th, I switch the COLD and HOT handles on all the water faucets in the house. why not just build our PV towers up about five miles up, It would end solar sprawl which is a waste just like urban sprawl! We must produce PV panels that are 1 KW per panel, that would make them cost efficient, even if you were to put them on top of house, because if you have 3 to 5 on your roof you could power your whole house, and use any extra energy to produce hydrogen gas for the times when the sun is down, and when the wind does not blow if you have wind-turbines to power your home

@ShwangShwing Anything solar is going to require a lot of land. One of the benefits of this design, aside from the needed technologies being old and tested, is that the outer 2/3 can be used for 'intensive farming'. What that means is that since the climate under the canopy is controlled, four crops a year can be grown. If you build it in the desert you'd be converting about 2sq miles into farmland. The farming output would make more money than the electricity, which is decent to boot.

Sure the sun may have high energy gamma beams, but if these were to replace current existing energy production with these "clean" energy, they are often subjected to economic analysis of efficiency and benefit/ cost analysis. Is the segment where they're melting the steel fast-forwarded? It looks as though it was sped up a bit. Though, even if it was, they melted a hole through a steel plate in a matter of minutes.

even if it was aluminum thats like 1200 degrees and it happened pretty fast so if it was lead I'd be impressed
