God hates me because I was born into an atheist family. It's like he? doesn't even want me to be part of any religion becuase he doesn't like me :( Forever Alone
By: chiselbutt. on 06 Feb 12, 20:37:46
You hated wicked??? Burn in HELL...... He was right to hold? up a sign at you .....
By: infideluxe. on 04 Feb 12, 13:02:57
@harrymeyer888 "Get this, I even believe you are saved." That is your brain succumbed to religion. Such "charitable" comments are charlatanry, serving only to? convince the theist that he is tallying up points for the god he worships. Such nonsense leaves me wondering what it must be like to be trapped in such a prison with all your books.
By: infideluxe. on 04 Feb 12, 12:53:31
@harrymeyer888 "At least I never accused anyone that there is something wrong with them." Self-martyrdom serves no purpose in arguing logical points. "Faith teaches you ..." All that is easily obtained without subscribing to supernatural fairy-tales. Plus, you get the benefit of truly developing a faculty of critical? reasoning. "not all seekers of truth are puppets." In that they have faith without reason, they absolutely are puppets.
By: harrymeyer888. on 04 Feb 12, 04:59:39
@infideluxe Hmmm. At least I never accused anyone that there is something wrong with them. My "wasted life" includes reading over 5 000 books over a very broad spectrum. One of the many things I have learned is not to use petty sarcasm. Faith teaches you a proper way of living, forgiveness and appreciation? of the good things in life among many others. I know it has been used to control the masses, but not all seekers of truth are puppets. Get this, I even believe you are saved.
By: infideluxe. on 04 Feb 12, 03:46:48
@DellerName I accepted myself and? stopped believing I needed supernatural justification for my own intelligence. Let's leave that to the bigots, shall we?
By: infideluxe. on 04 Feb 12, 03:44:44
@harrymeyer888 Props for your compassion, but if you? worship any being, I'll begin to think there's something quite wrong with you to begin with. A worldview in which you assume the role of puppet to invisible puppet-masters who are playing out their mythology with you as a pawn is beyond sad. It's a waste of life.

lol? jesus.
By: infideluxe. on 04 Feb 12, 03:40:05
@tyleroakley "What has happened to you lately to make you think, if there is a god, he hates you?" Lots of stuff happens to upset me and much also happens to gladden me. Taking the big picture perspective, I feel fortunate to live where and when I do. Others are not so fortunate as I am. In general, I see the world as a place that operates? exactly as I'd expect it to without any kind of divine overseer. Our brains find patterns where they do not exist. Just laws of probability.
By: infideluxe. on 04 Feb 12, 03:35:37
@sharonhdz22 "it's sinful" Sin implies a transgression against your god. Your mistake is speaking as? if any work has ever been done to show that your god actually exists. It has not. So not only do you have your work cut out for you, but you'd do well to remember that imposing your as yet unproven god upon others is double shameful, since you have nothing to show even yourself.

@barennis Back when the bible was written abominable meant awesome. ;]?
By: fameboundtopher. on 03 Feb 12, 17:50:51
@barennis Don't get mad that I don't want to read your novel on a YouTube comments page. Being religious has nothing to do with not wanting to engage in a deeply analytical conversation in this type of atmosphere. You want to debate? I'll indulge your? desire all you want via another form of communication. I am confident enough that I can help you find the answers you are needing. Message me your email or something and I'll be more than welcome to continue this discussion.
By: barennis. on 03 Feb 12, 17:27:36
@fameboundtopher That makes sense - religious people generally like to shut their ears and not read too much...it makes you think? more than is comfortable to retain your faith.
By: fameboundtopher. on 03 Feb 12, 17:06:08
@barennis? tl;dr
By: barennis. on 03 Feb 12, 16:37:28
@harrymeyer888 And I understand the comfort of religion etc. but I will point out that if there really was a Yahweh in the heavens and he really "inspired" or wrote a book it's very strange that he condemned? gay sex while he loved gay people. It is an odd, curious, plot hole. Why would someone who loves a group write that what they do is literally "abominable"?
By: barennis. on 03 Feb 12, 16:33:17
@harrymeyer888 See, it's that type of thing that makes me ideologically and principally opposed to any religion. People can make these claims about fantasy places that don't need verification and they will be believed b/c if you question what a "holy man" says, they have that clever defense clause of "blasphemy". It's like when a dictator sees that a newspaper wrote something? bad and true about him and he arrests the journalists on "defamation laws" - which are the? same as the Blasphemy clause.
By: barennis. on 03 Feb 12, 16:27:05
@fameboundtopher Speaking of which it's Numbers 31 - If you want to defend that one it is always entertaining to hear what apologists have to say? - I have heard/read the standard defenses of this (Divine Command, greater good, etc.)...
By: barennis. on 03 Feb 12, 16:22:49
@fameboundtopher Then would you buy into the "explanation" from a Viking at? that time who was "told" by Odin to murder/rape/steal of "Oh, well Odin is pretty mysterious...sometimes he orders things that seem evil but really it must be for the greater good...no one can understand his motives..."
By: barennis. on 03 Feb 12, 16:21:25
@fameboundtopher oh but when Yahweh does it "his motives are mysterious so we cannot condemn that"..but any other god in some other religion does the same thing, suddenly it's an atrocity. When Odin ordered Vikings to murder and rape other tribes, he was being evil, but when Yahweh told Moses to do it, it's fine with you because "God is mysterious".? Would you give the same pass to Thor or any other insane warmongering god?
By: barennis. on 03 Feb 12, 16:19:48
@fameboundtopher And I must point out an assumption I have about what you would think if you read in the Upanishads a description of how Krishna sent an army to sack a city and kill everyone besides prepubescent girls so they can "marry" the very murderers who killed their families. There is a double standard here where if you read that in any other religion, you would think that god? is insane/evil....
By: barennis. on 03 Feb 12, 16:16:57
@fameboundtopher If you are asserting that no one understands your particular god Yahweh then why bother to attribute good events or "miracles" to him? People thank Yahweh for good things that happen to them, but by your logic they do not know at all whether Yahweh was instigating those good events. If no one understands him, then statements like "God helped me through that? tough time" are silly - how do you know it was him if you cannot possibly understand his motives?
By: barennis. on 03 Feb 12, 16:13:38
@fameboundtopher that "it? was a different time" - very curious indeed that around the globe similar attitudes towards child beating, slave-owning, concubinary practices and other "laws" abide - was Yahweh going around to different cultures giving them similar rules? Quetzalcoatl gave the Aztecs laws on cleanliness and how to make sacrifices and how to properly treat one's sex slaves, so I guess he was just guiding his people too, since it would have been much worse without those laws..
By: barennis. on 03 Feb 12, 16:09:13
@fameboundtopher Yes I understand this apologetic concept - it is the same apologetic system used by moderate Muslims to explain away/validate the mandates in the Koran regarding the treatment of females. I could have made better laws with our 21st C. ethical sensibilities - what is strange is that Yahweh did not seem to know any better than the men who were making those laws b/c they are awfully similar to misogynistic societies all around the world in every culture. I guess their? gods knew....
